Secret Swing of La Jolla California

When I found out about this is swing I was like, I’ve got to go there! So I quickly googled for directions but I barely found any. Just read in several sites that it was taken down, so I lost hope. It wasn’t until about three weeks before the trip that I found some directions. Remember, “who perseveres reaches”.

We went after swimming with the Sea Lions and Leopard Sharks and we found it (wahoo!). It was the perfect place to take a break while enjoying the ocean breeze and the view of La Jolla Shores.

Some say is not that secret anymore but I differ. We went on the Labor Day weekend when everywhere was crowded and in the 40 minutes we spent there only saw two more people.

Directions

Find it is easier than you think. Go to Birch Aquarium at Scripps and once you are in the parking lot walk towards the end of it and between the cars look for a small path. Follow it and where you are almost at the top of the hill you will see a big tree to your left and that’s it, the swing should be in that tree. It’s a two minutes walk, maximum.

Keep in mind that when you go it might not be there. They keep taking it down and putting it back again. When I went, the swing was not the same one I had seen on the pictures. I recommend you to go anyways, it’s worth the try.

I heard there’re more swings on that hill, so if your are feeling adventurous don’t doubt to explore the surroundings.

Thanks for reading.
